What are those eeeh... 'scribbles' in your work?
Hahaha, don't worry.. In this work they simply are notes for my expo "Pics Struc- tured" a series of collages and a book.
I started making collages with all kinds of work related paperwork.
For years, I printed years on the white backsides of old sheets of paper...
I worked for my own advertising-agency (for 30 years) so there was a lot to print. And a lot of 'used' paper to print on. Old briefings, work related paperwork, administration, ideas etc. etc.
One day I noticed there where a lot of negative reminders of my work... I started to make collages of these reminders. I combined them with Positive things and memories... These notes - for me - are “! Out with the bad, in with the good ;-)”
That series was named 'Closure' and I must say it helped!
I like to hide all kind of things, let you work. Work to see things. Not too easy, you know.
And you can see the hand of an "Ad-man"; Visual, Heading, bodytext, pay-off... A classic build up.
What are you working on right now?
A series inspired by my daughter. I learned a lot from her about women rights, gender issues, white ignorance and supremacy. Equality.
Understanding and ignorance.
Today's no nipple policy (for woman) against old 'nudes' from old masters.
It had to be colorful to hide it’s content. As you can see I had the old "25 gulden" banknotes Ootje Oxenaar's on my mind ;-)
What inspires you?
Beauty and injustice.
