This morning, at 8 o’clock, I went to the supermarket to buy groceries for the whole week. Corona quarantine days, week 4.
The streets in De Pijp are very quiet, the restaurants and cafes are closed, the terraces are locked, there is no one.
I had to think about this song “Life during Wartime” from the Talkingheads ( This ain’t no party/this ain’t no disco/ this ain’t no fooling around. No time for dancing, or lovey dovey, I ain’t got time for that now).
De Pijp seems quite desolated these days and there are very few people passing at the art window of midnightin.amsterdam.
That’s why I decided together with the artists, to make the new expo’s online only for the time being. We will use social media and make some noise.
Don’t forget that art is everywhere around you to make you feel better, the beauty of Dutch tulips is incredible, and I was touched by the birth of a little baby girl just 10 hours ago.
So hang in there guys, life will be better again. In the meantime take very good care of yourself and your loved ones.
